The Lytton School
of Dance was formed by Judith Lathbury and her mother in 1960, with the
aim of teaching the art of dance in a friendly, happy and social environment.
Judith is a qualified teacher and life member of
the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) and a qualified teacher
with the MASD (Midland Academy of Stage Dancing). As the dancing school
has grown over the years, students who are working towards their teaching
certificates assist her in class, as part of their development as a teacher,
or when qualified take their own class.
Dance classes are held on a weekly basis in Penn, Wolverhampton and
at Coven and Wombourne in Staffordshire.
There are various types of dance
taught to students from the age of 3 years through to adult; these include
Tap, Ballet, Acrobatic, Disco and Stage Dancing.
Each year medal tests
and dancing examinations are held prior to the annual dancing display
which is held at the Grand Theatre Wolverhampton, with a repeat performance
at the Mill Theatre Sedgley.
Pupils have progressed to be members of local amateur
theatrical companies as well as making a career in the
professional Theatre where many have taken leading roles.
